Be Kind…Rewind

It’s official…2012 is right around the corner and as usual I have one thought provoking question for you…and no it’s not, “have you set your goals for 2012?”

Today, I want to know if you have taken the time to rewind the tape of your life? Have you reviewed 2011 and embraced it for all of its ups and downs, twists and turns, and drama?

Can you describe 2011 with one word?

Reflecting prior to heading into this next year seems to be like one of the best things you can do for yourself and your family in order to steer your life’s ship towards success.

Review the tapes…what were your major accomplishments in 2011?

What were your major mishaps?

What lessons did you learn in 2011 that in order to prevent future disaster, you need to take with you in 2012?

What are you most grateful for from 2011?

Where did you make or miss your mark?… Did you even have one?

It’s so important to reflect, and if you can get in the habit of doing so more than once a year, I promise you…your 2012 will be

»insert word to describe your 2012«

Alright, I’ll tell you what my word is…EPIC!

What is definite in your life?

Of all the many things you may want out of this life be it success, love, great fortune, the power of influence, as well as material and non-material things…of all of these things what can you state definitively that you want? You want to lose weight? Okay, specifically…how many pounds? You want to make more money? Okay, specifically what dollar amount and by when?

Often times we make comments like, “I just want to be happy,” or “I need to make more money,” but have you specifically defined happiness or figured out what “more money” means to you?

If we are not specific in our requests and most importantly don’t understand why we want these things; then the only thing definite is missing the mark. You can’t hit the target if you don’t aim for the bull’s eye. Get specific, devise your game plan, and take aim.

Momentum: One of Preparation’s offspring

The beautiful thing about momentum is that once you’ve got it, things seem pretty easy.

The grind associated with getting started and the hiccups and/or misfires and mistakes are all in the past, and you get to cruise. Simply because once you’ve got it (momentum) all you have to do is ensure you’re guiding this awesome force in the best direction.

We’re approaching the “most wonderful time of the year,” and it is often during this time that people take a moment to pause and reflect upon the successes and failures of their past year. Many make New Year’s resolutions and often fall short. Way short of achieving the year/life they dream about. So why do so many people fall short and so few gain the momentum needed to easily navigate their path to achieving their dreams?

It comes down to one word and it’s not momentum, but preparation.

So I ask you…are you preparing for your best year yet and what steps have you taken OR are you about to take today to gain momentum?

The trick boys and girls is not to wait until January 1 to start chasing your dreams, start right now.
