If You’re Not Having Fun…

do something else.

Life is too short to do something that doesn’t make you come alive.

In whatever you choose to do, show up as the best version of yourself, and have fun!

Now is the entire process of our work always going to be fun? No. But when you dive in and get lost in that state of flow with what you spend the majority of your time doing, it should be fun the majority of the time.

Stepping into the new

The more I seek, the more I find.

The more I learn, the more I realize that there is so much that I don’t know.

As we lean into vulnerability we can receive love and strengthen our connections.

It is by faith that we can walk into the unknown with confidence.

What motivates me also scares me

…but it’s my job to show up and do my part no matter what.

As we step into the new, remember that legs of doubt take us nowhere and feet of faith enter into new realms.

Let Go to Connect

We often remain on the surface because we just can’t seem to let go.

We can’t be vulnerable; even if it’s just for a moment.

Truth is…until we let go, and until we’re willing to be vulnerable and completely naked, then  we”ll never connect.

We’ll forever remain on the surface: engaging in small talk and celebrating victories that from the outside looking in mean everything but realistically mean nothing at all.

It’s about meaningful connections.

You must let go, in order to connect.

Where are my keys?

I’m often guilty of wasting time looking for my keys. I search high and low, near and far and as time ticks on I become more and more frantic and anxious searching for them. It never fails: once I slow down and look where they belong, I am often surprised (at myself) to find my keys exactly where they’re supposed to be. In my purse.

Why is it that we often go searching everywhere for something when all the while it’s right where it belongs?

What is it about keys?

The key to success, happiness, health, wealth whatever key you’re searching for, just stop looking where it doesn’t belong. Check the place where it does, and I bet you’ll find (like a purse), it’s been hanging around or on you the whole time you’ve been searching.

Why I went dark

A 30 day yotherescampbell.com sabbatical…what gives?

You’re probably thinking…I thought you were all about “honoring your commitments” and finishing out that video challenge. Where’s the honor in that?

Here’s the deal.

I went dark because I needed to retreat to a quiet place so that I could really focus. I needed to turn off everything and search within to determine how I would approach not just the last 30 days of my life but the remainder going forward.

The video challenge taught me two very important things about myself. I really do enjoy creating videos; however, I have no desire to edit them. And while I am a disciplined person, I wasn’t feeling fired up to create a video every single day for 30 days.

For me, this year has been all about living my calling (using my signature strengths on a daily basis) while being guided by my personal values.

What are my core values?

  1. God
  2. Authenticity
  3. Integrity
  4. Love
  5. Inspiration

By saying, you know what?…this video challenge really isn’t working out for me right now, at this point in my life, was actually a form of me staying in integrity and being true to myself. Talk about authenticity. Truth is…I needed to focus on my passion project by continuing to work my calling and my career.

I spent the last 30 days intensely focused on doing the work and while I am tired, I am fulfilled. While I am confident, I am calculated. While I am bound…I am free.

It feels good to be back.

Put Yourself First

Sounds selfish. Counter-intuitive. Genius.

It’s quite simple really. Take care of yourself and you can give so much more.

We need you to use your superpowers on a daily basis. We need you to show up as your best you everyday. You can’t do this if you are not taking care of yourself. I’ve had to learn this the hard way. Giving giving giving. Burning out and then not being able to enjoy the fruits of all this gracious labor.

If you don’t put yourself at the top of your priority list, you’ll get to a point where you’re not showing up well-rested, energized, and ready to use your superpowers for maximum impact. You’ll show up tired, dragging, potentially irritable and this is a dangerous combination; especially if your labor is out of love and for a cause greater than yourself. It’s not about you…or is it?

Don’t cheapen your gift. Take care of yourself.

Is this easier said than done? Yes.

But I never said it would be easy.

Closing the Gap

There’s always this distance between where we currently are (here) and where we want to be (there).

At the beginning of 2012 many of us set out to accomplish BIG things. New Year’s Resolutions, 30 before 30 lists, vision boards you name it! They were created. There was energy and excitement around what 2012 would mean to so many of us if in December, we accomplished what we set out to do back in January.  Some of us may have made great progress, while others fell off the wagon early in the first quarter. But here’s the great news! It’s the second half baby, and it’s anyone’s game. This year can still be yours for the taking so long as you recommit to your goals, stay focused, and get really clear on why you’re going after what it is that you want. You see closing the gap gets easier and easier the more honest we are with ourselves as to why we want what’s on the other side. What’s your motivation? Why do you want it? Once you’ve answered that question (why do you want it?)…it’s up to you to be hell bent on closing the gap.

Remember, there is always something you can do today, that will move you closer towards your end goal. You just have to take action.

Want to Know Your Superpower?

We were all put on this earth with a gift. A talent. A superpower that should be used for the greater good of mankind. But somewhere between elementary school and the real world, society has rewarded the average. Those who have been compliant order takers in a system designed to reward those who do not have to think. They just do what they are told. They’re not asked to be creative, and they’re not asked to harness their superpower. The system is designed for the average. But I’m here to tell you that the game has changed my friend; even though…the system has not.

Ready to be an outlier?

Let me cut to the chase. In order for you to live an extraordinary life. The life you dream about during your day job and get stirred up over when you see someone else living your dream lifestyle… you have do to one thing. You have to use your superpowers on a daily basis to create that life. You can’t create it…if you’re not using your superpower.

That life is here…waiting for you. You just have to use your superpowers to get it.

Don’t know what your superpower is?Don’t worry. My dear friend Brandi and I are here to help! We’re offering a free 30 minute online course – yeah I said free :-) To help you discover your superpower so you can design your own extraordinary life. Secrets Secrets or Not Really

So today was hysterical. Oh social media how I love thee…

Today we posted a highly emotional and authentic article  on our passion project website. The post was written by one of our dear friends as she retold the story of giving her three week’s notice and breaking up with the company she served for seven years.

It was beautifully written love story, that ends with both parties agreeing to see other people :-)

Much to our friend’s surprise…this blog post was printed out and handed to her when she walked into work this morning. Yikes!  Did I  forget to mention that my friend and co-founder of this passion project also work at the same company of our friend who resigned!?! Double yikes!

*Cue three nervous girls on a conference call freaking out about who else within the walls of our organization would: read this post, share it across regions via e-mail (like this guy did), or even scarier… click on the  ‘contact us’ link and expose us (fellow employees) for the truth preachers that we are? It was so crazy. Would we get a call from HR?  What would happen next?

Nothing.

Except a few ‘likes,’ and confused text messages and e-mails from folks trying to figure out who really quit.

I guess good news  still travels really fast (thanks to Facebook); especially prior to 8am. It seems like Corporate America can still be like high school…or is reading published news about a break up just that hard to keep your hand off of?
