Why Not Now?

At midnight tonight people all around the world will resolve to change their life for the better. My question is, why wait until tomorrow. Why not start now?

What’s stopping you?

It has been my observation that those who are successful in achieving their dreams and goals are committed. They don’t need a new year to start, they start where they are with what they have. Day by day and moment to moment they chip away at the slab of marble that will eventually reveal their most beautiful and inspiring work of art…their life.

Why not start chipping away now? The world needs your art now more than ever.

It’s time.

Taking the Scenic Route

It’s official…I’m taking the scenic route through life and it’s effin’ amazing!

Throughout our lives we have been taught that happiness is a destination. That in order to be happy we must accomplish our goals and dreams in the shortest amount of time possible. We put enormous pressure on ourselves to be, do or have that which society says that we should have, do or become by a certain age.

We have a choice. We can follow the path society has placed before us or we can chart our own path. In charting our own path we acquiesce to taking life’s scenic route: where we let go of our past, tuck away or image of the future, and use the values that we hold close as our guide. The best part about the scenic route is that life magically unfolds and we can enjoy it for what it is…a beautiful journey filled with wonder, surprise and adventure.

Are You Celebrating the Small Wins?

ARE YOU CELEBRATING THE SMALL WINS?

Oftentimes we get too caught up in what our victory should look like that we forget to celebrate the small wins along the way.  While people often say it’s about the journey, it seems like… that while we are making incremental progress towards our big bold goals we find ourselves not unhappy, but not ecstatic either about the small victories we achieve along the way.

Here’s the deal. Success is simply the result of small wins that happen consistently over and extended period of time. So do yourself a favor, when you have a win…no matter how big or small. Think of it as a big one and celebrate!

This will help you enjoy the journey on the way towards achieving the impossible.

Switch it Up

It’s great to change it up every now and then. Take a different route to work, incorporate new exercises into your workout routine, and even change your diet. Change often leads us to have a better appreciation for that which could become mundane and routine; and often change accelerates us towards our goals. However, it’s important to note that we we institute a change, we must first and foremost ask ourselves if this change aligns with our objective? Depending upon what you’re trying to achieve…in my case, with this blog, I wish to be “the first thing people do when they start their day.” If that’s truly my objective, then today I have missed it.

Keeping our objective top of mind will help us to better navigate the changes we incorporate in our lives. That’s the great thing about life…it’s one big experiment, and for me, tomorrow, I get to test hypothesis #2.

Go on…switch it up a little.
