When you think it doesn’t matter

That’s often when it matters most.

When you think no one is watching…someone is.

When you think no one will notice…someone will.

When you think it doesn’t matter…it does.

Why?

Because you know. And that – that guilt is enough to destroy you.

The Game Changing Question

“Are you willing to sit in the truth?”

It’s like you can’t pass go and collect $200 until you answer this question.

Oftentimes we feel stuck and start playing the blame game our making excuses as to why we can’t live by design. The minute we feel we are no longer in control and do nothing, we give up our power. Remember, there’s always something you can do.

In order to create a viable plan…you have to be willing to sit in the truth.Closing that gap between perception and reality and alas making decisions that keep you moving in the direction of your dreams.

Sit in your truth and watch the game change.

Why Not Now?

Image

At midnight tonight people all around the world will resolve to change their life for the better. My question is, why wait until tomorrow. Why not start now?

What’s stopping you?

It has been my observation that those who are successful in achieving their dreams and goals are committed. They don’t need a new year to start, they start where they are with what they have. Day by day and moment to moment they chip away at the slab of marble that will eventually reveal their most beautiful and inspiring work of art…their life.

Why not start chipping away now? The world needs your art now more than ever.

It’s time.

The answer

We often become perplexed and sometimes annoyed by leaders who answer questions with a question. This Socratic method of teaching is quite genius because traditional education teaches us otherwise. We’re taught that there is often a definitive answer out there and/or path to take in order to acquire something. We were never really challenged to search within ourselves to illuminate our own truths, to search for our own answers.

This morning…I cried during my meditation.

The first time that happened was during the summer time, and when it happened, I immediately checked in with my life-coach for an answer on what that could be about. He simply said, “trust your gut…sounds like you’ve stumbled across some truth!”

“Truth!”…with an exclamation point…as if this was something to be excited about. I’m cryin’ over here and you’re excited? I later realized, he was excited because tears meant truth and truth meant a breakthrough was just around the corner.

The great part about these kinds of lessons is that once you’ve been through it before, recognizing what’s happening when it happens again, makes the process a lot easier. At this point, you know where to check in with yourself. You can look back at your values and assess where you were  out of integrity, or you can repeatedly ask yourself why to what’s causing that uneasiness or internal conflict. Repeated questioning gets us closer and closer to the root cause…our truth.

We must start with why.

It’s easier to reveal your own answer when you know where to start.

But what remains difficult, is that once we’ve  identified that truth, we must make a decision.

To act or not to act. Because either way our action or inaction will say something and even with that…there are no guarantees.

Closing the Gap

There’s always this distance between where we currently are (here) and where we want to be (there).

At the beginning of 2012 many of us set out to accomplish BIG things. New Year’s Resolutions, 30 before 30 lists, vision boards you name it! They were created. There was energy and excitement around what 2012 would mean to so many of us if in December, we accomplished what we set out to do back in January.  Some of us may have made great progress, while others fell off the wagon early in the first quarter. But here’s the great news! It’s the second half baby, and it’s anyone’s game. This year can still be yours for the taking so long as you recommit to your goals, stay focused, and get really clear on why you’re going after what it is that you want. You see closing the gap gets easier and easier the more honest we are with ourselves as to why we want what’s on the other side. What’s your motivation? Why do you want it? Once you’ve answered that question (why do you want it?)…it’s up to you to be hell bent on closing the gap.

Remember, there is always something you can do today, that will move you closer towards your end goal. You just have to take action.

I Know You Felt That

Stop pretending you’ve got it all under control and start paying attention when you feel out of control.

When you get those butterflies in your stomach and your nerves are going haywire, or see your hands shaking,  or you are so excited you might pee on yourself; take a deep breath and really listen to your soul. It’ll tell you what’s up. Seriously.

Do not plow through your emotions getting nothing out of that moment except an explosion of feelings. Take notes and then do your homework (reflect).

When your spirit is out of alignment, then there’s no better time than that moment to allow yourself to feel what’s going on and start asking yourself some very tough questions.  You could start with, “why am I feeling like this?”

You owe it to yourself. Create the space and ask the questions.

Here’s the best part…the answer always lies within. You just have to be brave enough to ask yourself the questions.

3 Ways to tell if You’re a Robot

Answer ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to the following three questions to find out if you’re a robot.

1. I rarely ask why I’m doing whatever it is that I’m doing (this could be your job, a directive from a boss, loved one, or simply a recreational activity you partake in, or daily ritual)

2. I often regurgitate thoughts or sound bytes that I’m not even sure I believe or fully understand

3. I have NOT cried within the past 365 days

RESULTS

If you answered yes to all 3 of these questions…you are a robot. (oh dear…stay faithful, there is hope for you)

If you answered yes to 2 of the 3 questions …you are a semi-bot. (*sighs and shakes head with a concerned look – but hopeful)

If you answered yes to 1 of the 3 questions… you are not a robot; however, you are exhibiting bot-like tendencies and  it’s best that you avoid robots and semi-bots at all costs; your condition will only get worse. (heed my advice young grasshopper)

If you did not answer yes to a single question, congratulations! You’re NOT a robot.

If you are a robot, semi-bot, or exhibiting bot-like behaviors, do not fret my dear…it’s really not your fault, tomorrow’s post will reveal how to deprogram yourself, but for now… Here’s some food for thought.

“Do not apologize for crying. Without this emotion, we are only robots.”

Dream Big

Last night…for the first time, I was able to inspire a total stranger to go after her dream/follow her passion and live her purpose versus try to get a job somewhere else simply to make more money. The best part was that despite the fact that I was exhausted, my message (core belief or WHY) beautifully erupted out from the deepest part of my soul and I was able to dream big not for me, but for her. This was BIG because when I hung up the phone, I looked down and realized I was no longer preparing to take this leap, I was already airborne.

How to Wake Up at 4:00AM

People often look at me like I have four heads when I tell them I get up at 4:00AM during the week (and often on Saturday’s) to start my day. They immediately think that I’m some kind of freak and their follow up question is always, “well…then what time do you go to bed?” At which point I respond that it is usually between 8:45-10:00PM; depending on if I have an evening extracurricular activity planned.

While I have always been a morning person (up no later than 6:30AM) this whole 4:00AM thing did not start until this year.

So…how do I do it?

I am about to reveal to you my secret to success. How it is possible for me to wake up at 4:00AM and be the most productive before 8:00AM.

Are you ready?

Here’s the secret.

I have something worth waking up for at 4:00AM. My WHY wakes me up at 3:40AM, excitedly anticipating the clock to go off at 4:00AM: so I can start the work I love. I know I am limited to four solid hours of uninterrupted space; therefore, I work like a mad scientist (as I’m sure that’s what my husband thinks I am) and have the rest of the day to focus on the job that pays the bills and those who need my undivided attention.

It’s not me that wakes me up…it’s my WHY.
